BS 15000 IT service management – Parts 1&2: Specification for service management and Code of practice for service management
BS 15000-1:2002 promotes an integrated best practices process approach to delivering services (such as outsourcing) that meet the customer’s requirements. Every organization’s processes are linked. Problems arise when those links are broken. Complexity increases when organization link together as when one provides managed services to another. Chaos occurs when there is no systematic approach to managing the links between the processes and the organizations.
Planning, coordination, integration, and ongoing implementation of service management processes require that objectives, processes, linkages, and expectations all be defined. Once defined, a proactive management strategy can be applied to ensure that customer requirements are met without sacrificing the needs of the service organization.
